The One World Orchestra in concert

The concert "Bonfire" took place on 10th November 2018 at The Brighton Unitarian Church in support of two
Brighton charities:- Thousand 4 £1000 / Brighton Migrant Solidarity and The Clocktower Sanctuary.
The pieces are presented in concert order.
All compositions are by Paul Busby and many of them are from his various suites (see repertoire).

Vied Ac
(Brighton Suite) (Solo: Jon Brown - Flugelhorn)
A Neolithic "causewayed enclosure" dating back to 3500 BC was established at Whitehawk on the hills to the East of Brighton. Vied Ac is one of Britain's earliest Stone Age Monuments predating Stonehenge by up to 1,000 years. The word “Whitehawk" is believed to be a corruption of "Vied Ac", the Saxon for “Holy Oak".

"Emma Lee French was born in Uckfield in 1836. She emigrated to the USA, arriving in Chicago from where she pushed a cart full of goods donated by her church a distance of 1,400 miles to Salt Lake City."

"Major Peter Labellière was an eccentric who prophesied the date of his death and requested his landlady's son and daughter dance on his coffin. Apparently the boy actually fulfilled the request, but his sister just sat on it. At his request the coffin was then buried upside down on nearby Box Hill."

"This encompasses parts of Canada, Alaska, Scandinavia, Greenland, Iceland and Siberia. I tried to depict the coldness of the area, but then things got a bit more heated. So now you know - the band is responsible for global warming."
