One World in a Parallel Universe
The One World Orchestra was born in 2016 when Sussex composer of jazz, Paul Busby, took the unusual step of retiring from his own big band. He handed over his large repertoire of original works and The One World Orchestra was born. The name is taken from Busby’s last suite - The One World Suite.
Almost all of the original players remain and we have been joined, enhanced and improved by Alice Hawkes: keyboards, Phil Naylor: drums, Chris Britt: bass guitar, and Philippe Guyard: tenor and soprano saxophones, Peter Mansfield: trombone, Jim Prior: trombone.
Having performed a few times in our home town of Brighton we are breaking out to incorporate compositions by band members and in particular another Paul; namely our M.D. Paul Nieman.
Another project taking shape under the auspices of our funky bass player Chris Britt is One World in Music Education.
