The One World Orchestra
UK jazz ensemble based in Brighton, East Sussex.
In 2009 composer Paul Busby was commissioned by the long standing Watermill Jazz Club in Dorking to write a suite taking themes from the area. He formed a big band for the first performance in 2010. It was such a success, and Mr. Busby such an untiring engine of musical invention, that he was spurred on to write three more suites.
Geography and the theme of humanity being a significant influence, Paul Busby went on to compose in suites:- Brighton Suite, an East Sussex Suite and finally his One World Jazz Suite. In 2016 he retired inviting the musicians to take over. So it is that in 2016 we relaunched as The One World Orchestra - a title Paul wholeheartedly endorses.
The orchestra, young as it is, is expanding its extensive repertoire of original music with fresh compositions from Paul Busby, David Beebee and Paul Nieman.
Under the repertoire menu the pages for the suites are growing with background information to the titles, images and external links. Hopefully when you revisit you'll find something new. The first repertoire page being developed is for "The Brighton Jazz Suite"
