|
This piece is part of Paul Busby's One World Jazz Suite It was played by the Paul Busby Big Band with special guest, Mihaly Borbely, in Brighton in October 2014. Solos are by Paul Nieman - trombone, Mihaly Borbely - taragoto, Phil Paton - alto, and Terry Pack - bass.
Tsukuyomi-No-Mikoto in Japanese mythology was the moon god. His sister, Amaterasu (the sun goddess) was invited to a feast given by the Goddess of Food, Uke Mochi. Amaterasu couldn't go so she sent Tsukuyomi in her place. To produce the food, Uke Mochi turned to the ocean and spat out fish, she then turned to the forest and spat out game, and finally turned to the fields and spat out rice. Tsukuyomi was so disgusted at this that he killed her. When his sister got to hear about this, she got very angry and said that she (the sun) would never appear in the sky at the same time as him (the moon). |

Solos by Rob Heasman and Martijn van Gent, sorry the mic wasn't loud enough, and a phenomenal solo by guest trombonist, Barnaby Dickinson accompanied by Dave Trigwell.
