David Macari, PhD - Bass Trombone
As a tenor/bass trombone doubler (and tuba/euphonium dabbler), I pop up all over Sussex in various guises. Perhaps currently most frequently playing trombone in big bands, I also enjoy playing for stage shows, orchestras and even briefly served as a musician in the Army Reserve.
Studies began at 11 years old, mainly in Brighton Silver Band, with lessons at school and later privately at home. Early playing experiences included brass band contesting, marching band, wind band, big band, and orchestra, but all petered out as studies in pharmacology progressed through PhD and into research. Encouraged by my wife-to-be, I re-started playing after about an 8 year progressive cessation, but now with re-invigorated zeal to study through lessons, courses, masterclasses, gatherings, books, and YouTube! Day job is writing about medical science (currently freelance), and music is my side-line amateur occupation (aka, hobby). |
