Last night's concert (Brighton Unitarian Church) was a roaring success with a great audience despite the rain and lightning. Band members turned up for the sound check dripping from the downpour. See archive for more.

Tonight - the first meeting of the steering group. We will clarify what we think we are doing as a collective and how to do it. Seven of the band volunteered and high on the list of priorities is a concert coming up in November.

Just been importing some old videos into the archives section. We have two more rehearsals to go and then take a holiday to pick up the threads in September. A next concert anticipated for November of this year. Another biography added ( Saxophonist Beccy Rork)

Five new pieces, no less, from Paul's pen are now in rehearsal mode with Paul B. coming to the rehearsals to see how they run. The titles are The Boy's Toys, The G-word, Arabesque, Anaprasana and Felicity. Take a look at "Repertoire" to read a little more about them.

Great gig at The Brunswick last night and equally great response from a cheerful audience on a bleak winter's night. A few possibles pending in the pipeline so please keep an eye on the concerts page. Meanwhile we look forward to the next rehearsal in which we will be rehearsing new compositions. We didn't manage to organise the circulation of a hat for the collection. However a very kind and thoughtful member of the audience responded by getting a box from behind the bar and circulating it. On the whole the band doesn't pay itself and the collections go towards running costs. such gestures are hugely appreciated.

Excellent gig with an excellent audience. It's not so often that people hear a band in the street and come in, stay and enthuse but that's what did happen.
We return to The Brunswick on February 4th (see concerts) This success of this gig is the third and last gig for this year.

Gearing up towards our second rehearsal of Mr. Busby's most recent output. Remarkable keyboard player Tom Phelan is stepping in for David Beebee as we plan our next appearance on Sunday 12th November.

After the summer recess comes P.B. with seven new compositions ready for the next rehearsal on September 4th.
Paul is nothing if not prolific and he will be taking that rehearsal which will be the first towards your first Autumn gig at The Brunswick on November 12th.
The new and as yet unrehearsed titles are the last seven listed on the miscellaneous repertoire page.

Whilst setting up at B.O.A.T. (Brighton Open Air Theatre) I took a panorama of the scene.
The audience came, the wind blew, we blew and the sun shined eventually. This was our second concert with thanks to Terry Pack and Charlotte Glasson for their input and enthusiasm.

Heading towards the May rehearsal I'm busy taping up some fresh charts from the house of Busby. "Spot The Paul" is the title.
Read all about it on the miscellaneous repertoire page.

The band rehearsed four new compositions from the pen of Paul Busby who sat in playing piano for the rehearsal. Brenda, No Such Thing As Never, Ali's Adventures In Wonderland and The Eighth Day. There is a story to be found behind most of Paul's compositions and if you'd like to know more take a look at the miscellaneous repertoire.

About the website. If you're curious about the music we play take a look at the repertoire. The Brighton Suite page is gradually being populated with images and links which help to explain some of the stories behind Paul Busby's compositions.
